This experiment places a quartz specimen within a documented multisensor arrangement while participants undertake a metaphysical or contemplative practice. Its purpose is to observe relationships among physical responses, the arrangement, surrounding conditions, and the activity. It does not assume that quartz amplifies intention or that a quantum shared-consciousness mechanism exists.
Exploratory question
Which relationships appear, change, or disappear across the quartz arrangement, diverse sensor records, surrounding conditions, and the activities participants describe?
Discovery can include unexpected distributions, delays, nonlinear relationships, or changes in how channels relate. An observation does not have to violate a predicted average to be interesting.
Physical arrangement
- Central specimen: quartz in a fixed, documented holder. Record dimensions, source or composition information where known, orientation, surface condition, and mounting. Unknown properties remain explicitly unknown.
- Radiation channel: an ambient-background ionizing-radiation counter with recorded model, settings, timing resolution, and instrument limitations. Preserve event timestamps where the instrument provides them; otherwise preserve its native counting intervals.
- Optical channel: a suitable light or photon detector, with sensitivity range and exposure to ambient light documented. Record dark response and light leakage where relevant.
- Mechanical channel: an instrumented piezoelectric sensor or quartz resonator, documenting how it is coupled, excited if applicable, and read.
- Surroundings: temperature, humidity, pressure, vibration, relevant electromagnetic conditions, power interruptions, and instrument changes.
- Reference arrangement: a comparable second station, where available, to explore shared and differing responses. Record its location and every known difference rather than assuming perfect equivalence.
Optical photon detection, scintillation radiation detection, and Geiger counting are different measurement arrangements. Their signals and sensitivities must not be treated as interchangeable.
Practices and configurations
Participants describe their chosen practice in their own terms: meditation, prayer, chanting, intention, ritual objects, or another activity. Record the timing, participant count, proximity, movements, speech, object handling, lighting changes, and other activities relevant to the physical setting. Identifiable personal information is unnecessary for the shared observation record.
Exploratory configurations can include quartz orientations, mounting changes, quartz versus a documented glass specimen, an empty holder, different sensor placements, and different preparation orders. Record changes so the circumstances of each observation remain recoverable.
Ordinary local sessions document the whole local response, including heat, sound, movement, and electromagnetic involvement. Where compatible with the practice, a separate unattended arrangement can be observed during remotely conducted sessions. Later comparisons can use randomly scheduled practice and no-session windows and analysis with session labels withheld. These are distinct questions, not interchangeable tests of every tradition.
Keep the observations intact
Retain the full native sensor output and timestamp information. Record missing intervals, clock uncertainty, sensitivity, calibration, settings, and data-processing choices. Preserve participants’ descriptions as descriptions rather than converting them into instrument measurements.
Humidity and other environmental variables remain part of the physical record and may reveal relationships worth exploring. Do not automatically subtract them or force observations toward an expected curve. Filtering and correction can be investigated in separately labelled derived records, with the original observations retained.
Exploration may develop new questions during observation. Keep the search history, including unsuccessful comparisons. When a pattern becomes a candidate explanation, specify it clearly enough to examine in fresh sessions or another physical arrangement.
Radiation-count branch
The public version uses ambient background radiation only. It does not require added radioactive sources. Do not open smoke detectors, disperse radioactive minerals, or build improvised source arrays for this experiment.
A Geiger-count change does not by itself demonstrate a change in a material’s beta-decay rate. Background, geometry, absorption, detector efficiency, dead time, and electronics can change detected counts. A Geiger tube generally does not identify the isotope responsible for an event.
Observations of specified beta-emitting materials belong to a separate institutional branch: qualified partners select suitable authorized sources and detection arrangements, document source-specific attribution, and provide radiation-safety oversight. No source acquisition or exposure procedure is part of this public proposal.
Comparing experiments across organizations
A candidate relationship could have different expressions in different arrangements. Compare timing structures, nonlinear dependencies, distributions, and interactions among channels as well as average readings. Keep units, sensitivities, locations, timing uncertainties, and differences between apparatus visible.
Shared weather, clocks, electronics, software, or processing can produce shared patterns. Their relationships remain investigable, but similarity alone does not identify a new physical influence. A useful emerging descriptor should help anticipate an observation in a session or arrangement that did not contribute to its construction.
What a result can establish
A recorded experience establishes what a participant reports. A sensor response establishes what that instrument registered under its documented conditions. A recurring association motivates further investigation. A reproducible unexplained association still leaves its mechanism open.
Neither a positive association nor a null observation settles metaphysics as a whole. Claims about altered nuclear decay, quantum connections among minds, or additional fundamental dimensions require evidence specific to those claims. Null, adverse, and unresolved observations remain part of the experiment record.
