Experiment 003 — Preparation Order

Metaphysics Explored — experiment directory

Experiment 003 · Proposed exploratory study · No results reported

Explore whether reversing the order of two documented preparations changes the subsequent sensor relationships.

Exploratory question

Does A followed by B leave a different recorded response history from B followed by A?

Define the preparations

Choose two clearly described operations. For example, A can be a recorded change of specimen orientation and B a specified period of chanting, meditation, or another participant-chosen practice. Preserve their actual durations, movements, proximity, and surrounding conditions.

A preparation is a physical and activity history, not merely a label. Record what participants actually do and what changes at the station. Keep the instruments operating through transitions wherever feasible.

Observation sequence

  1. Document the starting arrangement and observe its native sensor output.
  2. Record an A-then-B session, including the transition and the period afterwards.
  3. Record a B-then-A session, retaining differences in elapsed time and starting conditions.
  4. Explore A alone, B alone, and unattended periods where useful. Repeat sequences in different orders to examine history and drift.

The station can include a central quartz specimen, optical and mechanical channels, optional ambient radiation counting, and environmental records. Document any rearrangement or reset; do not assume that the apparatus returns to an identical state.

Relationships to explore

Compare timing, recovery, distribution shapes, cross-channel relationships, and environmental dependencies as well as average readings. A response confined to a transition can remain interesting even if an average over the whole session hides it.

An order effect can reflect ordinary memory, vibration, heating, hysteresis, or activity history. It becomes a candidate for further investigation when a clear description helps anticipate the effect in a fresh sequence or another arrangement.

Observation record and interpretation

Keep the full native instrument records, timestamps, missing intervals, settings, and descriptions of the circumstances. Environmental relationships can be investigated rather than automatically removed. Filtering, correction, and summaries remain separate derived views with their assumptions visible.

Participants may describe their experiences and beliefs in their own terms. Keep these accounts identifiable as reports, distinct from sensor measurements and proposed explanations. Record the actual practice and physical activities without requiring a predetermined result.

Different preparation histories can produce different responses within familiar physics. Order dependence alone does not demonstrate a new fundamental dimension or a consciousness mechanism.

A candidate pattern can be examined in fresh observations and another physical arrangement. Record unsuccessful comparisons and unresolved outcomes as well as interesting responses. The observations need not conform to an expected curve to deserve attention.
