Experiment 006 — Photon and Vibration Relationships

Experiment 006 · Proposed exploratory study · No results reported

Explore timing and nonlinear relationships between optical observations, mechanical responses, and community activity.

Exploratory question

When do optical and mechanical records develop recurring relationships, and how do those relationships depend on the arrangement?

Arrangement

Observe a documented quartz or other specimen with an optical detector and an independently recorded vibration or piezoelectric channel. Record sensitivity ranges, native sampling intervals, mounting, illumination, electronics, power, and environmental measurements.

A light detector records only within its sensitivity and operating range. It does not automatically count individual photons. Describe the actual measurement rather than giving all optical outputs the same name.

Observation sequence

  1. Record an unattended period with the apparatus unchanged.
  2. Document a participant-chosen activity and record before, during, and after it.
  3. Explore changes in illumination, detector covering where appropriate for the instrument, mounting, or specimen presence as separate documented configurations.
  4. Repeat configurations and retain transitions, missing intervals, clipping, and any changes in settings.

Do not assume that one channel’s event causes another because timestamps appear close. Clock offset, sampling rate, buffering, and processing can alter apparent timing. Keep native records and timing uncertainty visible.

Relationships to explore

Explore delays, bursts, changes in distribution shape, nonlinear dependencies, and relationships conditioned on activity or environmental circumstances. Speech, chanting, motion, lighting, and electrical equipment can contribute to both records.

Correction or filtering can be examined in additional labelled views, while retaining the original records. A selected pattern can then be described precisely and examined using a fresh session, changed electronics, or another independently operated station.

Observation record and interpretation

Keep the full native instrument records, timestamps, missing intervals, settings, and descriptions of the circumstances. Environmental relationships can be investigated rather than automatically removed. Filtering, correction, and summaries remain separate derived views with their assumptions visible.

Participants may describe their experiences and beliefs in their own terms. Keep these accounts identifiable as reports, distinct from sensor measurements and proposed explanations. Record the actual practice and physical activities without requiring a predetermined result.

Colocated channels can share power, electronics, mechanical coupling, and environmental influences. Cross-channel similarity alone does not establish a new interaction or identify a metaphysical mechanism.

A candidate pattern can be examined in fresh observations and another physical arrangement. Record unsuccessful comparisons and unresolved outcomes as well as interesting responses. The observations need not conform to an expected curve to deserve attention.
