Explore how recorded responses vary when quartz, glass, and an empty holder occupy the same documented arrangement.
Exploratory question
Which relationships change when the central material changes, and which remain shared across arrangements?
Arrangement
Use a fixed holder and documented sensor positions. Compare a quartz specimen, a glass specimen of recorded dimensions, and an empty holder. Similar appearance or size does not imply identical thermal, optical, mechanical, or electrical behaviour. Record those differences where known and mark unknown properties explicitly.
Choose available sensing channels: light, vibration or piezoelectric response, an instrumented resonator, and optionally ambient ionizing-radiation counts. Record temperature, humidity, lighting, nearby activity, and instrument settings throughout each observation.
Observation sequence
- Photograph or describe the initial geometry and record each specimen and its orientation.
- Record the native output before, during, and after placing a specimen. Preserve the handling transition as well as subsequent observations.
- Document the practice, gathering, or unattended condition accompanying the observation.
- Explore substitutions and repeat arrangements. Record their order; later comparisons can vary or randomize it.
Relationships to explore
Look across channels for changes in response shape, timing, dependencies, and sensitivity to environmental conditions. A shared humidity relationship might differ with material, mounting, or activity; retain that interaction for examination rather than automatically subtracting it.
A material-associated response is not by itself evidence for a metaphysical mechanism. The next question is whether the relationship persists with another specimen, changed mounting, or another independently operated station.
Observation record and interpretation
Keep the full native instrument records, timestamps, missing intervals, settings, and descriptions of the circumstances. Environmental relationships can be investigated rather than automatically removed. Filtering, correction, and summaries remain separate derived views with their assumptions visible.
Participants may describe their experiences and beliefs in their own terms. Keep these accounts identifiable as reports, distinct from sensor measurements and proposed explanations. Record the actual practice and physical activities without requiring a predetermined result.
Material substitutions also change ordinary optical, thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties. The experiment documents these relationships without presuming that every material effect is new physics.
A candidate pattern can be examined in fresh observations and another physical arrangement. Record unsuccessful comparisons and unresolved outcomes as well as interesting responses. The observations need not conform to an expected curve to deserve attention.
