An institutional proposal for comparing source-specific radiation records with other sensor channels and documented practices.
Exploratory question
Can qualified laboratories identify reproducible relationships among source-specific radiation observations, other physical channels, and documented practices?
Institutional scope
This page is a research proposal for qualified institutional partners, not a home radioactive-source experiment. It does not provide source acquisition, assembly, irradiation, or exposure instructions. Public participants can use the ambient-background version described in Experiment 001.
The participating institution is responsible for selecting authorized sources, appropriate detection, radiation-safety arrangements, handling, storage, and any participant access. A remote practice does not require participants to be present near sources.
Measurement design
The laboratory documents the material or isotope under observation, emission and detector response information, source attribution, geometry, calibration, background, acquisition settings, dead time, and timing uncertainty. Multiple sources require a design that can distinguish their contributions; a mixed count stream alone cannot identify which isotope produced an event.
Where scientifically and operationally appropriate, the laboratory can record optical, mechanical, resonator, and environmental channels alongside radiation observations. These arrangements must not compromise source containment or the validity of the laboratory’s measurements.
Exploratory questions
- Do response histories show relationships across source-specific channels or with other sensors?
- How do those relationships depend on humidity, temperature, geometry, preparation history, and practice timing?
- Which relationships recur in fresh observations or another qualified laboratory?
- Can an emerging descriptor anticipate a previously unexamined combination or response?
Preserve environmental relationships as possible subjects of discovery. Retain native data alongside any corrected or modelled versions. Document exploratory selection, null observations, and unresolved results.
Counts and decay
A detected count rate is not the same quantity as intrinsic nuclear decay rate. Background, attenuation, detector efficiency, geometry, and acquisition behaviour can alter counts. A claim of changed nuclear decay therefore requires source-specific evidence and appropriate analysis beyond an unusual plot or cross-sensor coincidence.
The institutional branch can contribute records to the wider experiment population without assuming that the same explanation applies to every observed relationship.
Observation record and interpretation
Keep the full native instrument records, timestamps, missing intervals, settings, and descriptions of the circumstances. Environmental relationships can be investigated rather than automatically removed. Filtering, correction, and summaries remain separate derived views with their assumptions visible.
Participants may describe their experiences and beliefs in their own terms. Keep these accounts identifiable as reports, distinct from sensor measurements and proposed explanations. Record the actual practice and physical activities without requiring a predetermined result.
Neither a correlation with practice timing nor a correlation with environmental variables establishes altered decay or a quantum-consciousness mechanism. Laboratory authority and source safety remain prerequisites for intentional radioactive-source work.
A candidate pattern can be examined in fresh observations and another physical arrangement. Record unsuccessful comparisons and unresolved outcomes as well as interesting responses. The observations need not conform to an expected curve to deserve attention.
